Course Description:
The course will be similar to the one used last year. This year we have a brand new loop for the U-8’s and U-10’s with a flat course located around the start finish area, the U-12’s will be using the same as the 2013 race.
Again the U-14’s will use last years course, going up the hill before cutting in left to rejoin the main course on the back wall section.
The main course starts off up a testing hill to spread the riders out on a 500 metre section of fire road, before coming to a head with the steep drop into the scrapyard section. (An easier route is on offer here which takes in the ledge route for anyone not comfortable with the steep drop).
Then its singletrack all the way until the road crossing and down into a spectator friendly figure 8 at the river section with some small drops and rooty singletrack as well as the river crossing.
Then its up the fireroad for 400m before cutting in right to the see-saw section, with tight twisty singletrack and a testing drop just before another short but sweet climb back up the fireroad to another fast singletrack descent.
From here its a flat doubletrack along to the elevator, a very testing singletrack climb with a couple of step ups just to keep you on your toes, this levels out to some sweet singletrack, with the little dipper halfway down, so keep your momentum up to make it up the other side.
More fast singletrack takes you down the back wall section before a short, sharp climb up unto the last section of the course and around to the lap finish.
Main course is just over 5k in length.

Ballykelly forest is on the A2 main Derry to Limavady road just outside the village of Ballykelly. Car park is situated opposite Craig’s Costcutter shop on the edge of the forest…look out for JOGGING TRAIL sign. Parking is limited in main car park but there ample space at shop across the road and at lay by on roadside. As this is a very busy road can users please use the subway which is situated just a few metres up the road as a precaution.
