Round 1 of the HSBC UK National Cross Country Series took place in Pembrey Country Park, Llanelli, Wales on Sunday 2 April 2017. The Cycling Ulster team that went over were Peter Davison, John Buller, Thomas Creighton and Craig McCarthy. They were supported by Simon Curry and Gareth McKee. Peter competed in the Expert race category for the first time and finished 23rd. In the Junior male race, John wrecked his rear mech and had to retire, Thomas and Craig were caught up in a crash at the start and both had to push to get back into the race. Craig finished 23rd with Thomas 27th.
Gareth had a great race and finished 5th in the Elite men’s category.
Also over at the race was Lee Harvey who finished 5th in the Youth male race, Dean Harvey finished 8th in the Juvenile male category, Graham Boyd finished 25th in the Elite men.
