Course Description:
Dunmore Mountain is located just south of Spa in the heart of County Down. The course is on private land and it is with thanks to the landowner that the club gets to use it to hold a mountain bike event.
The course will be very similar to the one used in 2011 . The senior course is approximately 3 miles and winds its way up and over both peaks of Dunmore mountain. From the top of the mountain there are magnificent views of much of County Down and as far as the Isle of Man. The circuits for the Under 8s, 10s and 12s has been redesigned but all are still within the main event field. The senior course has included some new sections including ‘the Glen’ which has a picturesque stream to splash through before beginning the climb back up. Most of the main climbs have been retained except “Mulligan’s Hill” which has been by-passed this year. The famous features are still there including the S-bend drop and the spectator friendly “rock slab”. Once over the rock there is a fast single track section back to the main field. The return to the main field has been changed to include a separate gate for the return leg. The open-mountain terrain holds up in all weathers and should prove challenging again this year.
