Expression of interest to join the CU XC development squad

The Cycling Ulster Off-road Commission is now looking for expression of interest from riders who wish to join their cross-country development squad.  The aim of the squad is to improve riders through a set of coaching sessions.  The Commission will then select a team from the squad to compete at the British cross-country mountain bike series in 2019.  Age categories for the squad are 2nd year Under 16s, Junior and Under 23 (male or female).

Eligibility for the squad is as follows:

  • The rider must have been born in Ulster, or the rider must belong to an Ulster cycling club or the rider must live in Ulster.
  • The rider must have a current UCI competition membership licence
  • Year of birth must be in the range 1997-2000, 2001-2002, 2003.

It is expected that the first meeting date for the squad will be Sunday 16 December 2018.  Further details to be confirmed.

Team selection

Selection for the team will be from those riders on the squad.

Selection will be based on:

  • results from the 2018 season as well as any results from the 2019 season;
  • the rider’s commitment and willingness to work within the team structure; and,
  • trial days where riders will be tested.

A selection panel will be in place and team selection will be made and announced two weeks before each of the races.
