Round 1 of the Irish Cross-country Mountain Bike National Point Series (NPS) took place at Union Wood in Sligo on Sunday 17 April 2016.
Results here.
A bright but cool day greeted the riders as they travelled down to “sunny” Sligo. Car parking was provided in several locations with lots of marshals on hand to direct the participants and spectators to the sign-on area. The race venue was a good stretch of the legs away up into the forest itself where the gazebos and music were all set up. Races started on the fire road climb with different courses for the various youth categories and the main senior course taking in large sections of single track. The feedback from the riders was unanimous – they loved the track. Old school mountain biking, quite technical in places, and tough.
Well done to Northwest MTB club for putting on a great event.
